How to get BANGING confetti photos on your wedding day!

by | Feb 19, 2025 | Weddings

So after what is now hundreds of weddings, what is my favourite moment on a wedding day? ALWAYS is the confetti! It’s just so joyful! So fun! It gets everyone all together giving a big WHOOP FOR LOVE! The only downside? We only get one go at it and at most it lasts 1-2 minutes and as your wedding photography I want this shot nailed! So how do we get the best confetti photos on your wedding day?!

Here’s how…

  1. There is no such thing as TOO MUCH CONFETTI! Give everyone two big fat handfuls of the stuff! Picture what you think you’ll need and then double it!
  2. Go eco! Obvs! Real, dried petals or biodegradable paper are all great. Also I really like how big petals and big confetti paper pieces take longer to fall.
  3. Don’t look down! An urge you’re going to have when all that confetti is flying at your face but resist the urge and keep your chin up. Look at your new spouse, look at your guests and look at me… But please don’t look at the floor!
  4. The more colourful the better. Even if you have a very neutral or muted wedding aesthetic, this is the one moment to be bright and colourful. If you have a colourful wedding theme you could match it to that if you want to but don’t get too caught up in the detail of it. Just go for bright and joyful because that’s what it’s all about!
  5. BIG smiles! We’ll sort your hair and all the hitchhiking confetti after. For now just enjoy and give me and your guests a big cheesy smile!
  6. Walk slowly and enjoy. This is not a cardio event. Take your time and enjoy the moment!
  7. Tell your guests to pop their phones down, you can do this beforehand or get creative and make a fun sign or just let me do it. But remind them you have a professional to capture the moment so for now we just want them off the blower and showing their lovely faces for your photos.
  8. ALWAYS stop for a smooch! Well… Why wouldn’t you?!

So you’re getting married?! Wahoo! It doesn’t get more exciting than that does it?! Let me tell you a little more about how I’d love to be a part of your big day…

Now you get to plan your big day, you probably have lots of decisions to make including deciding the perfect wedding photographer. Besides your shiny new spouse, your wedding photos will be the number one keepsake you take away to remember the day so choosing how it’s captured and by who is a big decision.

I’m based in Colchester, Essex and the majority of my wedding work happens all over Essex, Suffolk and London but I’ll travel to where ever you want. I love to hear about new and exciting destinations, nowhere is too far and nothing is too crazy!

So here’s a little about the kind of wedding photographer I am…

I like to photograph a wedding as it happens, this is your day! So let’s make sure the focus is on you enjoying every single second and not dominate it with laborious posing sessions. I want to capture those natural, authentic moments that are truly special and individual to you and the people you love.

The best compliment I’ve ever had was from a bridesmaid who observed “I didn’t even know she was there but from the pictures I see she was everywhere!”

Before your big day we can meet, drink coffee, talk all things wedding-y and even go for a little engagement portrait session. Your big day is to be celebrated with your best loved ones, but as your photographer I’m often given a front row seat to these most precious of moments. So it’s probably a good idea we get to know each other a bit and I promise I’m really very friendly! Find out more about my wedding photography HERE!
