Remember when you got that first “proper camera” and you were obsessed? It went everywhere with you and you made time to go out JUST to play with it? What did you shoot before me client briefs and shot lists? Remember how you BUZZED for that simple love of just making something?!
Ok that’s why I’m doing these photo walks. To get that back and remind myself how much I LOVE experimenting. Get away from the doom scroll where I’m checking out other photographers work and comparing myself. Play! To have time to get it wrong. CHINATOWN MUST GET PHOTO SHOT LIST:
📸 The Wardour Street Chinatown Gate, there are four Paifang gates but the Wardour Street one is the largest.
📸 Under the lanterns, almost the whole of Chinatown is under strings and strings of gorgeous red lanterns, TOTAL must get shot!
📸 Amongst the crowds, unless you’re going to go on a quiet day… spoiler alert, there isn’t one. So embrace crowds as part of the landscape.
📸 Holding something tasty, I suggest a Bubble Wrap! Obviously you also have to eat it…
📸 The Chinatown phone box. Cheesy? Yes. Still essential though.
📸 Outside a Chinese deli or supermarket window. Get the hanging rotisserie ducks and the red canopies and the bright neon signage, all of it!

Chinatown London Photo Walk the verdict…
Was the sun shining? No. Obviously not. The weather threatened rain but we carried on regardless. There’s so much colour to enjoy that even the flat light and the grey skies didn’t stop getting a TON of bright and vibrant content. We had a laugh. Experimented and shot until we dropped (in to a plate of very tasty noodles courtesy of YiQi )!
